The Catherine White Holman Legacy Fund was created to help Canadian LGBTQ individuals living in poverty. The fund is in honour of Catherine White Holman, who was a powerful force for social justice both in her personal life and in her professional work.

The CWH Legacy Fund provides three different types of grants and one loan.

Shaira Holman started the fund by providing $3000 in seed money and raised another $3000 from taking a walk. Money is given by caring individuals as well as groups such as Catherine’s work place, Three Bridges Community Health Centre.

The fund is volunteer-run.

Catherine did social work. She saved a lot of lives, and she saved them with love. She believed that the disfranchised were not loved enough: by society, by family, by the world, She saved lives because she really listened and acted with compassion and love.

That is why Shaira Holman and her fab friends formed this fund. The CWH Legacy Fund is designed to be straightforward and easy to apply for. People are not excluded by confusing forms and complicated requirements. This little bit of money is insignificant to the massive problems facing marginalized people today, but it is a gesture to encourage others to help out however and wherever they can.

There is not a lot of money in this fund and when the money runs out, that’s it. If you feel like helping out by donating, fundraising or sponsoring to continue this dream, it will be greatly appreciated.
